Yeah, probably. This comes from embracing the discussion over on the OD&D board about citadels, with the upshot being that they should be distinguished from castles — the latter are just human-built low-tech castles, but citadels are all abandoned precursor (Snake-Men, Primordial One, Great Race) or hi-tec (Space Aliens) sites that have been occupied by humans. I also leave open the possibility of hi-tec edifices built in recent/current times, by humans using knowledge gained from invocation rituals. Or human groups that are technologically advanced, but hidden from the world at large (vault dwellers).
Hadn’t planned on it, but my ultimate goal is to do the Black Abomination of Nyarlathotep as a megatowerdungeon. I should probably do a smaller tower as a practice run.
That would be a massive task but well worth the effort! When I was cataloging all the villages that were listed in the Carcosa book, I noticed that there are three villages that surround that. With the mega-tower-dungeon idea you got going, those would probably be somewhat “adventurer friendly” because of all the trade they would get from all the poor fools trying to raid the tower.
Apologies for the off-topic comment, but I couldn’t find a contact email for you.
A while ago I put out an ebook of my writing, called ‘The New Death and others’. It’s mostly short stories, with some obvious gamer-interest material. For example I have a story inspired by OD&D elves, as well as poems which retell Robert E Howard’s King Kull story ‘The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune’ and HP Lovecraft’s ‘Under the Pyramids’.
I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing a review on your blog (either a normal book review, or a review of its suitability as gaming inspiration).
If so, please let me know your email, and what file format is easiest for you, and I’ll send you a free copy. You can email me (news@apolitical.info) or reply to this thread.
Hey, I actually downloaded a copy from Amazon when you offered it for free a few months back. Haven’t read the entirety, but sampled a dozen or so stories. Can I admit to being a fan of some, and indifferent to others?
I’m not much for reviews and the extremely limited reach of this blog offers little (no) value. As far as game inspiration, the tone is mostly sunnier than what floats my Carcosa boat. But I have some campaign ideas in mind that will be enhanced from having read New Death, and particularly from your blog.
I am guessing this is an abandoned space alien outpost that was taken over by men?

Any plans on mapping out that citadel? I would be really interested to see what you planning on doing with it.
